FAT Waterflux flow meters at the XCaliber flow loop

Today, KROHNE Altometer, in the presence of its customer (ADDC) from Dubai, successfully executed a Field Acceptance Test (FAT). From a series of 70 flow meters  the customer randomly selected 2, which were mounted on the XCaliber flow loop. The KROHNE flowmeters bought by this customer were of the type Waterflux 3070 and are battery powered.

Site Acceptance Test passed; XCaliber operational again

Today the SAT for the renewed flow loop operating/control and pump drive systems have been successfully completed. After a shut down for 4 weeks, The XCaliber flow loop is operational ones again.

Successful FAT - Go for implementation

This morning, at the offices of Agidens in Gorinchem,  the FAT for the implementation of the new DCS/SCADA and pump-drives from Schneider Electric at the Xcaliber loop was succesfully executed and has resulted in a GO for the implementation. This will be carried out by students of Da Vinci College under the supervision of Agidens. The XCaliber loop is scheduled to be restarted again by the end of April.

Development of DMTF started

VAF Instruments, KROHNE Altometer, Reehorst, FCoE and Da Vinci College will develop and realise at the Duurzaamheidsfabriek in Dordrecht, a Dynamic Maritime Test Facility (DMTF), initially with a focus on propulsion technology to reduce the fossil energy consumption in shipping.

Start replacement of XCaliber operating system

Earlier this month the project tot completely renew the XCaliber DCS/SCADA system has been started.

In this project Schneider Electric, Agidens, FCoE and DVC cooperate to equip the XCaliber flow loop with the new PlantStructure PES  systeem and Altivar drives of Schneider Electric. The project, with Agidens as project leader, will wherever possible be executed by students of DVC. It is planned that the new system will be fully operational by May-June next year.

Calibration of MR meter using the new reference meters

This week, KROHNE Altometer again calibrated one of their MR multiphase flowmeters at the XCaliber flow loop.

For the first time, te new and highly accurate reference meters, permanently installed earlier this year in one of the test sections of the loop, were used as reference for the calibration.

Air Inlet Unit for XCaliber flow loop

Today the XCaliber flow loop was expanded with an Air Inlet Unit.

With this unit we now can add air in a controlled way to the flow in the test section, either diffuse or creating a static air bubble in the test section, to test the effects of air in the system on the behaviour of flow meters or other apllications.

New reference meters for calibration

This week, the XCaliber flow loop installation was expanded with a couple of new reference meters. With these new meters XCaliber is now equiped with two most accurate and cerfified meters as working standard for calibration of flow meters.

For that purpose, the two new meters are permanently mounted in one of the MUT sections ('Meter Under Test), that now will serve as calibration line. The integration in the contrpol system and calibration management systemn will be done in due course.

KROHNE Altometer calibrates new MR meters at XCaliber

Past two months KROHNE Altometer calibrated several production MR meters for water at the XCaliber flow loop at the Duurzaamheidsfabriek in  Dordrecht.

Earlier on, the XCaliber flow loop already hosted testing of variouw prototypes of this new and innovative multiphase flow meter.

Today an international group KROHNE employees followed part of their 'Hands On' training at the XCaliber facility at the Duurzaamheidsfabriek in Dordrecht. Already the  2nd time this year that FCoE/XCaliber hosted this part of the KROHNE in company training. The 3rd edition is scheduled for November.

ERIKS Econosto tested at the XCaliber flow loop

Past few months, ERIKS Econosto has tested flow-units, developed for one of its customers. At first, prototypes of these units were extensively dynamically tested. Afterwards also several production units were submitted to a test at XCaliber, before they were installed at the customer.

Zero Emissions meeting at VSL

At January 16th, the ‘Zero Emissions in 2030?!’ meeting took place at VSL. This meeting brought together parties involved in development and production of emission measurement techniques with various companies from the petrochemical and storage and transshipment sectors, authorities and monitoring bodies. Goal of the meeting was to find a common basis for further development and use of these techniques. This could contribute in the long run to substantial reduction of various emissions, for example in the Port of Rotterdam area, serving both economical as well as environmental interest.
